Consecutive cattle shed fires in Nam Phuc commune (Nam Dan)
(Baonghean.vn) - In less than a month, five consecutive fires at night have burned down livestock barns of people in Nam Phuc commune (Nam Dan), causing great panic among the people.
Starting on the night of August 31, Mr. Vo Dinh Son's family (living in Hamlet 8, Nam Phuc Commune) had just finished eating when they heard a crackling sound coming from the buffalo pen. He and his wife and children ran out to get water to put out the fire, but the fire spread too quickly. Hearing the shouts, the neighbors rushed over to put out the fire, broke the pen to move the buffaloes and cows away from the fire.
At around 8pm on September 16, a similar fire broke out in the buffalo pen of Mr. Vo Dinh Long’s family. At around 11pm on September 20, the buffalo pen of Mr. Vo Dinh Dinh (also in Hamlet 8) caught fire again during the night.
Most recently, in the early morning of September 23, the cowshed of Mr. Tran Dinh Hung (47 years old, in hamlet 8) also suddenly caught fire. Mr. Hung said: A few days ago, there was a fire in the buffalo shed in the hamlet, I was also on guard, but I didn't expect it to catch fire in the early morning. Mr. Hung's family is poor, and he recently received a loan from the bank to buy a cow to develop the economy. When the fire broke out, he and his wife quickly broke down the shed to save the cow, but when they returned, all the straw had been burned. More than 1 hectare of rice field planted to produce straw for the buffalo and cows was completely burned. I had to buy more than 1 million in straw and rebuild the buffalo shed.
While everyone was putting out the fire at Mr. Hung's house, a fire also started to break out in the buffalo pen of Mr. Vo Dinh Hong's house next door.
The families affected by the fire all confirmed that they worked hard all year round in the fields, had no conflicts with relatives or neighbors, but did not understand why the fire happened.
What remains after the fire at Mr. Tran Dinh Hung's house
(Hamlet 8, Nam Phuc Commune, Nam Dan)
Nam Phuc commune is a flood-prone area, so every household has built a solid buffalo pen, with straw piled on top to have enough food for the buffalo during the rainy season. After consecutive fires, people in Nam Phuc commune are extremely confused and on high alert. Learning from the “experience” of the houses that have been burned, households in the commune have been preparing water pipes, pumps, and even digging wells next to the buffalo pen to… prevent fires.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ngo - Deputy Head of Nam Phuc Commune Police, said: In less than a month, there have been 5 fires in the commune's livestock pens. The fires not only cause economic losses to the people but also affect the security and order situation in the area. We are currently coordinating with the district police to investigate the causes of the fires to stabilize the people's lives and production.
