13 years in prison for getting drugs for a friend

On August 15, the Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial to try the case of "Illegal drug trafficking" against Lo Thi Sai (born in 1983, residing in Xa Luong commune, Tuong Duong) and Hoang Thi Le (born in 1986, residing in Hoa Binh town, Tuong Duong).

According to the indictment, around the beginning of November 2016, a person named Thuy (unknown identity) discussed with Sai to find someone to bring drugs to Do Luong to sell. Lo Thi Sai called a man named Beo who often sold drugs to Sai's husband (Sai's husband was addicted) to order drugs.

After finding the source of the goods, Thuy sent Sai 46 million VND via bus to buy 5 bags of pink phien and 3 taels of heroin. Afraid of being discovered, Sai asked Hoang Thi Le to get the drugs for him.

At noon on November 25, Hoang Thi Le took a Lai car to the meeting place with Mr. Beo to buy 5 bags of pink phien (each bag contains 200 pills) and 1 package of heroin (3 taels). When arriving at Lo village, Xa Luong commune, Hoang Thi Le was discovered and arrested by the working group of Tuong Duong district police.

Differentiating the role of each defendant in the case, the People's Court sentenced Lo Thi Sai to 16 years in prison and Hoang Thi Le to 12 years in prison for the above crime.
