Sentenced to 12 months in prison for illegal possession of drugs

(Baonghean.vn)- On June 22, at the hall of the People's Committee of Nghia Tho commune, the People's Court of Nghia Dan district held a mobile trial of the case of Pham Hung Cuong, born in 1980, residing in Tan Mai block, for the crime of illegal possession of drugs.

According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Nghia Dan district: At about 4:00 p.m. on January 27, 2016, Pham Hung Cuong went to Dien Thai hamlet, Nghia Trung commune, to buy a package of heroin for 200,000 VND from a man about 40 years old named Hung, whose address is unknown. After buying the heroin, Cuong went to Nghia Dan town to find a place to use it.

When Hung arrived at Tan Thai block, he was caught red-handed by Nghia Dan district police holding a package of heroin weighing 0.22 grams.

Applying Article 194, Clause 1 of the Penal Code and mitigating circumstances, the trial panel sentenced Pham Hung Cuong to 12 months in prison.
