Sacred festival of Ong Hoang Muoi temple

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 12 (October 10th of the lunar calendar) at Hoang Muoi Temple, Hung Thinh Commune, Hung Nguyen District, Hung Nguyen District People's Committee solemnly held the Festival to commemorate the death anniversary of Mr. Hoang Muoi.

Attending the ceremony were comrade Dinh Thi Le Thanh, member of the Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of departments, branches and Hung Nguyen district.

According to folklore, Mr. Hoang Muoi was a talented man of both literature and martial arts, so he was given the important responsibility of guarding Nghe An, and was given the privilege of being the plenipotentiary to control Nghe An. He contributed to building a prosperous and stable life for the people in the surrounding area. In particular, he always cared for, was close to, and helped the poor.

Hoang Muoi Temple is located on a prime land, in harmony with the natural landscape environment, behind is Dung Quyet mountain, Phuong Hoang Trung Do where King Quang Trung chose as the capital in the 18th century. In front of the temple is the Moc River flowing through and the eco-tourism road along Lam River, the temple is located at the head of the giant crane's beak formed by the winding Moc River and Vinh River. Therefore, Hoang Muoi Temple is also called "Mo Hoc Linh Tu", converging spiritual and cultural tourism elements. In 2002, Ong Hoang Muoi Temple was ranked as a historical and cultural relic by the Provincial People's Committee.

Inauguration Ceremony

This year's Ong Hoang Muoi Temple Festival takes place from the 8th to the 10th of the 10th lunar month, including the ceremony and the festival. The ceremony includes the opening ceremony, the procession of the tablet and royal decree from Xuan Am village to the temple, the announcement ceremony, the great sacrifice ceremony and finally the thanksgiving ceremony. The festival includes folk games taking place on the 9th and 10th, attracting people in Hung Nguyen district to participate, such as volleyball tournaments between communes, tug of war, cockfighting, cultural exchange, and releasing flower lanterns.
