Liverpool eliminated, Arsenal win big, Real set record
The final round of the Champions League group stage has taken place with many dramatic surprises. Currently, three more names have been determined to win tickets to play in the knockout round: Juventus, Monaco and FC Basel.
Liverpool was eliminated bitterly
After 5 matches in the group stage, Liverpool only have 4 points and need to win, while their opponent FC Basel has 6 points and only needs a draw to advance. In the 25th minute, from a pass-and-go with Zuffi, midfielder Frei fired a left-footed shot that forced goalkeeper Mignolet to pick the ball out of the net, opening the score for Basel.
Sorry for Gerrard
Driven into a corner, Liverpool fought back with long-range shots. Martin Skrtel and Gerrard then made dangerous plays against goalkeeper Vaclik. Hope flared up for The Kop in the 82nd minute, Liverpool got a free kick after Sterling was fouled near the penalty area. Captain Gerrard successfully kicked the free kick to bring the match back to the starting line.
With the final score of 1-1, Liverpool had to accept leaving the Champions League from the group stage, while Basel will follow Real in Group B to continue to the round of 16.
Arsenal win big
Arsenal only finished second in the table despite a big win over Galatasaray
In Group D, the situation was settled after the 5th round. After the end of the 6th round, the situation remained unchanged, although Arsenal had won 4-1 against Galatasaray. In the 3rd minute, Podolski opened the scoring for the away team and before the first half ended, the score was 3-0 with a double from Ramsey. At the end of the match, each team had another goal and the final result was 4-1 in favor of Arsenal.
Despite the resounding victory, Arsenal still could not take the top spot in Group D because in the same match, Dortmund had a 1-1 draw with Anderlech, which was enough to put them above the Gunners due to a better head-to-head record.
Real Madrid set a record
Real is showing destructive power
Real, with its superior strength and class, did not have much difficulty defeating Ludogorets with a score of 4-0. Playing aggressively right after the opening whistle and scoring the opening goal in the 20th minute by Ronaldo, Real continued to show their unstoppable strength by scoring 3 more goals in the remaining minutes. This is also a new record for the White Vultures with 19 consecutive wins.
