Famous singer Che Linh, once again, got caught up in scandals related to music copyright during his second return to Vietnam to perform.

25 million for 24 songs in 1 lieshow

According to the program's organizers, immediately after receiving the certificate of acceptance for the art performance for the music night Che Linh - My Life's Diary issued by the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on May 10, 2012, immediately after that on May 18, 2012, the representative of the organizing unit - CM Vietnam Event Organization Joint Stock Company proactively went to VCPMC (Vietnam Music Copyright Protection Center) to contact and agree on payment of royalties for the songs used in the program.

Here, the two sides discussed the payment of copyright fees according to the art performance acceptance certificate No. 27/GTN-VHTT&DL issued by the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on May 10, 2012. VCPMC proposed a total fee of 25 million VND based on the Guidelines for implementing the price list for collecting copyright fees for music performances in Hanoi at the performance venue at the National Convention Center.

However, the representative of the organizing unit said that the fee was unreasonable and requested to pay royalties for the use of musical works for 24/35 songs used in the show (the remaining 11 songs were composed by Che Linh himself under the pen name Tu Nhi and requested not to collect royalties in any form) with a minimum payment of 400,000/work.

Because the copyright agreement has not been reached, the two sides have agreed to continue discussing a plan to pay royalties for the program and the organizer will have an official written response to VCPMC on this issue no later than May 28, 2012. However, while the copyright issue has not yet come to an end, a series of conflicting information has appeared. Some sources even said that Che Linh's performance on the evening of June 9 is at risk of collapse.

In response to this, on May 28, 2012, the organizing unit also sent an official dispatch to VCPMC to express its views, requesting VCPMC to properly implement the act of not providing inaccurate information about the program while both parties are still in the process of negotiating the contract, in addition, judging whether the program is allowed to take place or not is also beyond the scope of VCPMC's functions.

According to Nguoi dua tin's investigation, the parties finally reached an agreement on this issue after a tense meeting. Accordingly, the organizing unit has completed the payment of royalties to VCPMC for 24/35 works used in Che Linh's live show.My life diarywill take place on the evening of June 9 at the National Convention Center, Hanoi. The final copyright fee for 23/35 songs is 18,071,428 VND. This fee is calculated according to the fee schedule in Hanoi (25,000,000: 35 works) x 23 works. The organizer also hopes that VCPMC will complete the payment of copyright fees to the authors of the 23 songs mentioned above.

Famous singer Che Linh: "My reputation has been affected"
