On the afternoon of March 6, the Nghe An Provincial Military Command held a conference to review the work of natural disaster prevention, fire and explosion prevention, forest fire prevention, search and rescue, and guard work in 2018; and deploy directions and tasks in 2019.

In 2018, Nghe An was directly affected by 5 tornadoes, 2 storms, 1 tropical depression, 5 lightning strikes, 16 explosions, 23 forest fires, 20 river and sea accidents, drowning... causing many losses in human lives and property.
In that situation, the Provincial Military Command and military units stationed in the area have deployed synchronously and effectively in all three stages of prevention, response and overcoming consequences, thus contributing to limiting damage. During the year, more than 7,000 officers and soldiers and more than 10,000 militia and self-defense forces, along with 5 rescue ships at sea, 45 speedboats and 174 cars were mobilized to respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

Concluding the conference, Colonel Tran Van Hung noted that in 2019, the weather forecast in the province continues to have many complicated developments, with many potential risks of storms, floods, fires, forest fires, etc. Therefore, he requested agencies and units under the Provincial Military Command to continue to perform well the task of stationing troops and closely coordinate with localities in ensuring political security, social order and safety. Always be proactive in terms of human resources, plans, and technical means to be ready to mobilize to help people prevent, respond to, and overcome the consequences of natural disasters such as floods, fires, forest fires, and search and rescue missions.
