"Chaos" of reference books
(Baonghean)The new school year is about to begin, the book market is entering the bustling season. In addition to textbooks, the demand for reference books is equally large. To meet market demand, publishers are coordinating to release a large volume of reference books.
According to preliminary statistics, high school is at the top in terms of the number of reference books with about 400 different titles, followed by middle school with nearly 200 titles, primary school with more than 100 titles... The diverse and rich reference book market creates conditions for students to choose books that are suitable for their level, ability and learning method.
However, according to a survey at some bookstores in Vinh City, although the designs are rich, the names of different authors and publishers are different, the content of many reference books is almost identical. Therefore, it is very difficult for parents and students to make the right choice. Some people buy dozens of books by different authors and publishers, but when they open them and read carefully, they find the content is the same, causing waste and expense. More worryingly, many reference books are not of guaranteed editing quality, with confusing, obscure, and error-ridden sentences and expressions... still being sold widely on the bookshelves.
In the current "chaotic" condition of reference books, parents and students should not rush to buy reference books but wait until after the first day of school (August 15) in the first week of collective activities of the school year, schools will be informed of the curriculum and learning content of each block and class in the new school year, and will be guided to buy appropriate reference books. Books should be purchased at reputable bookstores, from famous publishers and authors. The important thing is that each student needs to base on their own learning ability to choose appropriate reference books and especially must know how to use them correctly.
