Broadcast on VTC 1 channel of VTC Digital Television at 8:45 p.m. every Saturday (starting from January 2, 2016), this program will be rebroadcast on other channels of VTC and other channels and television stations such as VTV5 for Vietnamese people abroad to watch.

According to Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan, the series of programs about ethnic minorities with very few people includes 18 episodes, each episode lasts 30 minutes.

In the first 16 episodes, each episode introduces an ethnic group (Lo Lo, Pa Then, Pu Peo, Bo Y, La Hu, Phu La, Lu, Mang, Si La, Cong, La Ha, O Du, Chut, Ro Mam, Brau). The last two episodes of the program, one episode deals with the core cultural values of ethnic minorities and the other episode is about the mechanisms and policies to support the development of ethnic minorities.

“This is the first time there has been a series of films about ethnic minorities and is a very meaningful activity to preserve the cultural values of 54 ethnic groups,” said Mr. Tuan.

The production of the above programs encountered many difficulties due to the production locations being in remote areas. However, the most difficult thing is that there are very few ethnic groups that have preserved ancient sources of documents about their cultural characteristics and customs while research on ethnic groups with very few people in Vietnam is not much, scattered and unsystematic. In some stories that have been passed down, there is no support from scientific arguments and practical proof...

With the support of folklore researchers and authorities and ethnic minorities, the program production unit chose a cultural approach. With this approach, the difficulties and hardships of some ethnic minorities are recorded as a way of life that has been maintained for many generations, associated with customs, spiritual concepts, sustainable values... with which the ethnic minorities feel that they are themselves.

Through the programs, the audience will see emerging issues such as the impact from the external environment that has changed the lives and cultures of each ethnic group, many customs and practices have been lost.

“The program has many images of exploring untouched lands, isolated communities living deep in the forest, which will help the audience witness many strange, mysterious, and fascinating stories as well as regret what ethnic groups with very few people have lost, and are very difficult or no longer able to restore…” Mr. Tuan emphasized.

The representative of the Ministry of Information and Communications believes that the 18 episodes will contribute more valuable and systematic information and documents about the ethnic minorities in Vietnam, contributing to the propaganda of the Party and State's policies and laws on caring for and supporting ethnic minorities. Calling for the help of the entire community so that ethnic minorities can integrate and develop in the community of Vietnamese ethnic groups./.
