Many studies have shown that grape seed extract and the resveratrol found in grape seeds are effective in protecting the kidneys, especially for people with diabetes. You can improve your kidney health by drinking a glass of grape juice or eating at least 15 grapes a day. Here are the benefits of grapes for the kidneys:

Can restore damaged kidneys

A study published in Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism found that compounds found in grape seeds and skins can reverse kidney damage caused by a high-fat diet. Obese people are more susceptible to kidney damage because it can lead to copper depletion in the kidneys and other complications. The study suggests that grape seed and skin extracts could be a preventive supplement for patients at high risk of kidney disease, such as obesity. Grapes are rich in antioxidants, which protect the body against oxidative stress, an imbalance between free radical production and antioxidant defenses.

Prevent kidney disease

About 50% of patients with acute kidney failure are affected by a lack of blood supply to the kidneys, also known as ischemia. Grapes have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms thanks to the component resveratol, which reduces the risk of ischemic damage. Resveratol was found to have a protective effect on the kidneys of mice with tissue damage due to lack of blood supply to the kidneys, after a period of hypoxia or ischemia. This study was conducted by doctors from the University of Milan, Italy in 2013.

Reduce kidney disorders

Iranian researchers have shown that taking 50 mg of grape seed extract daily for 2 weeks can reduce kidney dysfunction after ischemic tissue damage. The study was conducted on 32 rats in 2013 and the researchers hope that the results may help reduce the harmful effects of kidney disorders.
