Every day I go to Nam Dan 2 High School, pass by the memorial house of the late Minister Tran Quoc Hoan and many times I have been able to visit and learn about a part of the history of the police force. Since then, I have been instilled with the love and aspiration to join the ranks of the people's police force to contribute a small part of my efforts to eliminate criminals and bad people...

The letter from student Nguyen Duc Nga, former 12th grade student of C4 at Nam Dan 2 High School, sent to the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, the leaders of the General Department of Politics of the People's Public Security... began with honest sharing like that.

That is also the motivation and dream that Nga has pursued for the past 12 years and finally achieved sweet results in the recent national high school exam when she passed with a high score of 28 points, plus 1 more priority point for a total of 29 points, and was admitted to the People's Police Academy.

Just a week ago, we met Nga and her father at the Provincial Labor Culture House at the Ceremony to honor international, regional, national students and excellent students of the province. In that ceremony, Nga was also the student who appeared in the television report, a typical example of poor students in Nghe An with great determination. With a very gentle smile, a warm voice, looking at Nga, she exudes confidence, courage and always knows how to try and strive to achieve her dreams.

However, coming to Nga's house now, a gloomy atmosphere filled the small house. Tonight, according to schedule, Nga would have gone to the train station with her father, to Hanoi and started a new journey. However, everything had to stop after Nga and her family received the news that she did not meet the requirements to enroll. Surprised and shocked, Nga did not believe in herself. Already quiet, she became even more calm. Upon receiving this news, the neighbors also rushed to visit. Everyone was stunned, feeling sorry for Nga, but no one expected that, just because of a small mistake of Nga's father in the past, the poor student's dream of going to university was about to be shattered. Seeing us, Mr. Nguyen Duc Hoa was bewildered and then held our hands tightly: "What should we do now, children? It's me. It's all me."

He then said: “The other day, my nephew was honored by the Provincial People's Committee with a reward of 10 million VND. After receiving the admission notice from the People's Police Academy, the family also prepared a small meal to invite brothers and neighbors so that my nephew could go to school. After that, I took him to the Nam Dan District Police to complete the necessary procedures. On September 13 or 14, I was invited by the district police officer to the headquarters. He asked me if I had any previous criminal records. I didn't remember anything... Then he said: "Based on the archives, in 1993, I was sentenced by the District People's Court to 9 months in prison with a suspended sentence for intentionally causing injury"... At first, I was really surprised, but later I remembered that it was true. At that time, I was young and angry, so I got into a fight. I was given a suspended sentence, so I didn't have to go to prison but stayed home to work and produce normally. After that, I got married and had children. It's been a long time, I really forgot, also did not think to tell the child when he applied to school.

In the letter sent to the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, Nga also wrote: "Dear uncles, my father made mistakes in the past, but if you come back to my hometown, from the uncles on the People's Committee to the neighbors, everyone knows that my father is a good person, hard-working, and strictly abides by the laws of the state and locality. Perhaps my father could not have imagined that after a good life, just one minute of mistake in his youth, his son now has to lament and sigh in tears like this, uncles."

Nga's letter will be sent to the Ministry of Public Security, but no one knows when there will be an answer. If she fails, from a student who passed both blocks with very high scores (block A Nga got 28 points, block B Nga got 27 points, not including priority points), Nga will have to stay home and retake the exam because she only submitted one wish to the People's Police Academy. But more sadly, the ambition, dream and aspiration of a young person, of a young Party member will certainly be greatly affected. And after this shock, will Nga be able to regain confidence in herself?

Nga's case is also the case of student Bui Kieu Nhi in Tuyen Hoa district, Quang Binh. Sharing with me, teacher Ho Quoc Viet - Principal of Nam Dan 2 High School said: Kieu Nhi, after submitting an application to the Ministry of Public Security, was given special permission to enter the Academy of Political Security. We also hope that, from Nhi's case, the superiors will consider giving Nga the opportunity to stand in the university lecture hall. Nga is a very worthy student and a shining example for all students in our school.
