Testimony of ex-lover who killed female taxi driver
The suspect in the murder of a female taxi driver in Dak Nong said he had an argument with his ex-girlfriend over money and used a knife to commit the crime. He admitted that the victim was pregnant with his child.
Five days after killing a female taxi driver, Nguyen Dinh Tam (36 years old, residing in Dak Song, Dak Nong) was caught while staying in a rented room, 80 km from the scene.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thanh Tuan - Deputy Head of the Police Department for Investigation of Social Order Crimes (PC45, Dak Nong Provincial Police), after receiving the news that Ms. Tran Thi Khanh Linh (23 years old), was murdered in a rented room in Village 7, Dak Wer Commune, Dak R'Lap District, the unit sent officers to coordinate with local police to examine the scene. At that time, Tam was also present and along with many people watched the authorities work.
Checking the relationships, the investigation agency learned that Tam had been in a relationship with Ms. Linh for 2 years.
"We invited Tam to the headquarters to give a statement, but this man denied all the questions of the investigators. Because there was no evidence to charge him, the authorities let him go, but all his movements were monitored," said the Deputy Head of PC45.

Lieutenant Colonel Tuan informed that in addition to Tam, several other people were also considered suspects, because the victim worked as a taxi driver and had extensive connections. However, through screening, from many sources of documents and evidence collected at the scene, the investigation agency determined that Tam was the perpetrator.
On August 9, police arrested Tam while he was staying at a motel in Thuan Ha commune, Dak Song district - about 80 km from the crime scene.
At the investigation agency, the suspect still did not admit to being the murderer. Only when the detectives presented documents and evidence proving Tam's actions did he confess honestly.
According to the investigation agency, Tam has a wife and two children currently living in Binh Thuan. He came to Thuan Ha commune to rent land for farming and met Ms. Linh, then the two moved in together.
According to Tam, at the beginning of their relationship, he and Linh lived together in Thuan Ha commune. Their house was burned down, so they received compensation, and now they have about 80 million VND left.
Recently, they often had conflicts and did not live together, but they still kept in touch. After breaking up, Tam stayed in Thuan Ha commune to work on the farm while Linh rented a house in Dak Rlap district and worked as a taxi driver.
On the evening of August 4, Tam went to Linh's room and the two continued to have a dispute about money. Angry, the 36-year-old man used a knife to cut Linh's neck, then took the female taxi driver's belongings in an attempt to distract the investigation agency from a murder and robbery case.
At the police station, Tam admitted that the victim was pregnant with his child.
