Integrating resources to build Con Cuong district into an ecological town

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of March 11, a working delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee had a working session with leaders of Con Cuong district to listen to and give opinions on the implementation of the local socio-economic development plan.

Also attending the meeting were comrades representing leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors; comrades of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee and People's Committee of Con Cuong district.

In 2015, Con Cuong completed 17/20 targets compared to the socio-economic development, national defense and security plan, focusing on removing outstanding difficulties, completing the adjustment of the socio-economic development plan until 2020 and approving the ecological urban project.

Agricultural, forestry and fishery production grew steadily, with total food output for the year reaching 33,446 tons, up 15.8% over the same period. The industrial and construction sectors showed signs of recovery.

Budget revenue in the area reached 18.9 billion VND, reaching 146% of the estimate, budget expenditure was ensured in accordance with regulations. Investment attraction work took full advantage of state and business resources.

The cultural and social fields continued to have many positive changes, doing well in labor, employment, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, creating 1,761 jobs, opening 7 vocational training classes. The poverty rate decreased from 32.1% (according to the old standard) to 30.7% (according to the new standard).

Besides, last year the district still had some limitations such as: economic development had not made any breakthroughs, the transformation of crop and livestock structure was unsustainable; the new rural construction movement was uneven; the progress of site clearance and construction of some works and projects was still slow; the number of people giving birth to a third child or more increased compared to the same period, administrative reform was not effective;...

In 2016, the district proposed a number of key tasks and solutions such as: implementing the Resolution of the Party Congresses at all levels and the Project to build Con Cuong district into an ecological urban town by 2020; focusing on developing agriculture and rural areas associated with structural transformation; promoting industrial production, small-scale industry and construction; coordinating well the activities serving the election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 term;...

Comrade Hoang Dinh Tuan - Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Con Cuong district reported on the socio-economic development situation in 2015, tasks and solutions in 2016 of the district, and proposed a number of recommendations.

The district proposed a number of contents to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the working delegation, related to the implementation of the Project to build Con Cuong district into a town in the direction of ecological urban areas and funding for projects such as: a rigid bridge across Lam River, the Headquarters of the People's Committee of Bong Khe commune, traffic routes from National Highway 7A to the General Hospital of the Southwest Nghe An region, etc.

At the working session, representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors had many comments and pointed out the advantages and limitations so that localities can have a plan to overcome them in the coming time.

After listening to the report of the district leaders and 16 opinions of departments, branches and sectors, comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee praised the solidarity and efforts of the Party Committee, people and armed forces of Con Cuong district, demonstrated through the results achieved in 2015, but noted that the district needs to focus on overcoming shortcomings, especially in terms of administrative reform and innovation of working style.

The comrade basically agreed with the tasks that the district identified in 2016, affirming that supporting Con Cuong to soon become an ecological urban area is one of the important tasks that the province focuses on directing, at the same time requesting the district to integrate and effectively use investment sources in the area, striving for a fairly comprehensive Con Cuong by 2020, becoming the economic and cultural center of Southwest Nghe An.

Regarding the recommendations of Con Cuong district, the Chairman of the People's Committee assigned relevant departments and branches to synthesize and promptly submit to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and resolution.
