Flood swept away Khe Loa, completely isolating Tien Ky commune.
(Baonghean) -Due to the heavy rain from September 20 to 22, floodwater from upstream washed away Khe Loa, completely isolating the entire Tien Ky commune (Tan Ky district, Nghe An).
Some people in Tien Ky commune have made temporary bamboo rafts to cross the river. Each trip costs 5,000 VND, however, the rafts are fragile and do not have life jackets, which is very dangerous to the lives of people crossing. Especially at noon, more than 50 primary school students had to cross by bamboo raft. When we arrived at Khe Loa spillway at 12 noon on September 27, 2011, the flood continued to rise, landslides on both sides of the riverbanks entered residential areas, threatening people's lives. Due to the flood, bamboo rafts cannot operate, and thousands of households in Tien Ky are now completely isolated.
Khe Loa Canal was half washed away by the water and lies precariously on the river bank.
People had to make temporary bamboo rafts to cross the river.
Mr. Thai Van Tan's house was "swallowed" by the flood to the yard.
People in Khe Loa are having to plant bamboo stakes along the river to prevent landslides.
