Swindling acquaintances to China, imprisoned for 7 years
(Baonghean.vn)On the morning of July 20, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened a first-instance criminal trial of Cut Thi Lan, born in 1991, residing in Nam Nhoong commune, Que Phong, for human trafficking.
The indictment determined that around November 2009, Cut Thi Lan was invited by a woman of unknown origin to China to do business and sold to a brothel as a prostitute. In February 2010, the brothel owner named Ngoc (unknown origin) asked Lan to return to Vietnam to find someone to take her to China, and the owner would pay 500 yuan/person. Lan called Cut Thi H. (born in 1989, residing in Que Son commune, Que Phong) and Lu Thi Q. (born in 1993, residing in Nam Nhoong commune, Que Phong, both of whom are Lan's friends) to invite her to go to China to work, a leisurely job with high salary. H and Q agreed and Lan and a person named Nham came to pick them up and take them to China.
After that, H. was sold by Mrs. Ngoc to a Chinese farmer as a second wife, while Lan and Q. were kept as prostitutes. Q. was then sold to a Chinese man. Some time later, Cut Thi H. escaped to Vietnam and reported to the police. Cut Thi Lan was arrested by the Chinese police and deported back to Vietnam. As for Lu Thi Q., a kind-hearted man helped her and brought her back to Vietnam. In January 2012, Lu Thi Q. also wrote a complaint against Cut Thi Lan to the police. With that evidence, the People's Court sentenced Cut Thi Lan to 7 years in prison and compensated Lu Thi Q. 10 million VND.
