Thai durian floods into Vietnam

Vietnamese durian is in season, but a survey in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi shows that only a few fruit shops and traditional markets sell this product. Meanwhile, Thai durian is flooding stores, traditional markets, and online channels, with prices ranging from VND240,000 to VND1 million per kilogram, 2-3 times higher than Vietnamese goods.

In addition to Fumani, wholesalers also import many other types of Thai durian, such as: Kanyao, Thai Mongthon, Krathung. This group mostly weighs 2-4 kg, with 4-6 segments and sells for 200,000-350,000 VND/kg (depending on the type), 3 times higher than the price of Vietnamese durian.

The most expensive durian imported from Thailand is Black Thorn. This type has sticky, orange-yellow flesh and large, round segments. They are the highest quality type grown in Chanthaburi - Eastern Thailand, priced at 600,000-900,000 VND/kg. Although the price is high, this type is popular with Vietnamese consumers.

The reason why Thai durian is flooding into Vietnamese markets, according to traders, is that the country is in full swing, so output is abundant. Meanwhile, this year Vietnamese goods are favored by China, so 70% of the quantity is collected by Western warehouses to export to this country, only about 30% is distributed domestically.

According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), in the first two months of the year, durian was the fruit with the highest growth rate among Vietnamese fruit and vegetable exports to China. Specifically,export turnoverDurian exports in the first two months reached nearly 57 million USD, an increase of more than 290% compared to the same period in 2022. The number of durian orders from China to Vietnam continued to increase in March and April. Currently, China still really likes Vietnamese durian.

Specifically, Nang Hoa 9 is at 6,400 - 6,600 VND/kg; OM 5451 remains at 6,400 - 6,500 VND/kg; currently Dai Thom 8 rice is 6,600 - 6,800 VND/kg, up 100 VND/kg; OM 18 rice is at 6,600 - 6,800 VND/kg; Long An fresh sticky rice is at 6,600 - 6,800 VND/kg; An Giang fresh sticky rice is at 6,200 - 6,300 VND/kg; Long An dry sticky rice is 9,000 - 9,200 VND/kg, An Giang dry sticky rice fluctuates at 8,400 - 8,600 VND/kg and IR 504 dry rice remains at 6,500 VND/kg.

According to traders, today raw rice is in short supply, rice prices tend to increase again. Fresh rice prices are stable, glutinous rice prices are down, early summer-autumn rice prices are high. Particularly, Japonica rice continues to be in high demand, but supply is limited. In the Mekong Delta provinces, winter-spring rice is still in production in many localities.

Last week, domestic rice trading was good, with prices of rice varieties 200-300 VND/kg higher than last weekend. Winter-Spring rice prices were adjusted up 100-300 VND/kg for some rice varieties. Summer-Autumn rice demand was high, with farmers offering slightly increased prices for Dai Thom 8 and OM 18.

Domestic coffee prices continue to increase, surpassing 51,000 VND/kg

Accordingly, domestic coffee prices today, April 15, in the Central Highlands provinces increased by 700 VND/kg.

Specifically, the price of green coffee beans (coffee beans, fresh coffee beans) in Lam Dong province in districts such as Bao Loc, Di Linh, Lam Ha is currently purchased at a price of 50,500 - 50,600 VND/kg.

Coffee in Dak Nong, Kon Tum and Gia Lai provinces is traded at VND51,000/kg.

World coffee prices are continuing to rise.

Today's coffee price in Dak Lak province increased by 700 VND/kg, in Cu M'gar district, the coffee price is currently at 51,000 VND/kg. In Ea H'leo district, Buon Ho town, the price is the same at 51,100 VND/kg.

For world coffee prices, the London and New York exchanges continued the upward trend.

Vietnamese farmers have almost no coffee left in their stocks while Indonesian farmers are limiting sales in the hope of further price increases in the coming time. This reinforces the news agency's earlier warning of a shortage of supply and supports the price increase.

According to the report of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in March, the country exported more than 210 thousand tons of coffee, earning 482.4 million USD; an increase of 5.2% in volume and a sharp increase of nearly 11% in export value compared to February. However, in the first 3 months of the year, our country's coffee exports decreased by 5% in both volume and value compared to the same period last year.

Pig price today April 15: Increased by 1,000 - 2,000 VND/kg in many provinces and cities

In the Northern region, the price of live pigs today increased by 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday and fluctuated between 50,000 - 52,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, after increasing by 1,000 VND/kg, the price of live pigs today in Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Nam Dinh and Ha Nam provinces all adjusted to 50,000 VND/kg. This price was also recorded in Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Hanoi and Tuyen Quang. This is also the lowest price in the region.

In the remaining provinces and cities, the price of live pigs today did not record any new fluctuations. In particular, the highest price in the region of 52,000 VND/kg was recorded in Hung Yen and Thai Binh. Other localities in the region also recorded the price of live pigs at 51,000 VND/kg.

Similarly, the two provinces of Lam Dong and Binh Thuan also increased slightly by 1,000 VND/kg to a common level of 51,000 VND/kg. Other localities in the region did not record any new price fluctuations.

In the Southern region, the price of live pigs today also increased following the general market trend and fluctuated between 50,000 - 52,000 VND/kg. Also increasing by 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday, currently, 51,000 VND/kg is the price of live pigs recorded in Dong Nai and Vung Tau. Similarly, after increasing by 1,000 VND/kg, traders in Vinh Long province are purchasing live pigs at the highest price in the region of 52,000 VND/kg. This price was also recorded in Dong Thap, Ca Mau and Bac Lieu.
