On September 17, the Libyan Coast Guard said they had seized a Russian-flagged ship suspected of illegally transporting oil and its 12-man crew.
"On September 16, we received a signal about the presence of an illegal cargo ship near the port of Zuwara, 100 nautical miles west of the capital Tripoli," said Captain Taoufik Mohamad Assakir, commander of operations in central Libya.
Upon inspection, the force discovered that the Russian-flagged ship was transporting 5 million liters of oil in the waters off the coast of Zuwara city. The ship and its entire crew of 12 Russians were taken to the Tripoli naval base./.
