Syrian rebels capture hundreds of tanks
On October 3, Syrian rebel forces announced that they had taken control of a government army base in the Rahm el-Kalmon area, west of the capital Damascus, and seized 300 tanks and large ammunition depots.
Syrian rebels posted a video on YouTube showing the victory, with hundreds of tanks lined up along with other weapons and large ammunition depots. Some sources said that the rebels have started using tanks against government troops. This new development has dealt a heavy blow to the Syrian government.

A day earlier, rebels released another video showing the shooting down of a government drone near Damascus.
According to BBC, since 2011, the rebels have destroyed about 1,100 of the Syrian army's 5,200 tanks. The Syrian rebels have captured 256 more tanks and destroyed 357 others, while the Syrian air force is said to have lost 211 planes and helicopters.
The continued losses of the Syrian armed forces have forced the government to increasingly rely on local militias trained by Iran, as well as foreign fighters from Lebanon, Iraq and Iran./.
