Armed forces proactively respond to natural disasters according to the "4 on-the-spot" motto

(Baonghean.vn) - This morning, March 23, 2012, the Nghe An Provincial Military Command held a review of the tasks of natural disaster prevention and mitigation, fire and explosion prevention and control - search and rescue, and guarding in 2011; and deployed tasks for 2012. Attending were Major General Vu Van Tung - Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 4; Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors.

In 2011, Nghe An province was directly affected by 4 tropical depressions, storms No. 2 and No. 3, flash floods in the western mountainous districts, and local floods in the plain and midland districts, causing damage to people and property of the state and people.



Overview of the conference

Together with the forces in the province, the Provincial Military Command has mobilized nearly 49,000 officers, soldiers, militia and thousands of vehicles to participate in flood and storm prevention, search and rescue, and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters in the area, such as: evacuating nearly 4,000 households along the coast during storms No. 2 and No. 3; helping people in Ky Son, Tuong Duong, Que Phong, Nam Dan and Hung Nguyen districts overcome the consequences of floods caused by storm No. 2. Organizing rescue operations for 6 pine forest fires, 9 explosions, especially carrying out rescue operations in the Len Co stone mine collapse in Yen Thanh. The timely response of officers and soldiers of the Provincial Military Command has been highly appreciated by local Party committees, authorities and people.

Major General Vu Van Tung - Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 4 and Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the results of the implementation of tasks in 2011 of the provincial armed forces. At the same time, he noted that in 2012, the provincial armed forces, units of the Ministry and Military Region will continue to implement the "4 on-the-spot" motto, ready to mobilize all human resources, means, and facilities to respond promptly, minimizing human and property damage caused by natural disasters. Organize well the propaganda work among the officers, soldiers of the armed forces and the people, raise awareness of good implementation of all policies of the Party, policies of the State, and local defense and military tasks, contributing to political stability, social order and safety, creating conditions for socio-economic development in the province.
