Weightlifter Pham Van Mach won the world championship for the fourth time.

'Ant' Pham Van Mach and bodybuilder Nguyen Van Lam brought home two gold medals for Vietnamese bodybuilding at the 2014 World Bodybuilding & Fitness Championship.

This year’s tournament took place in Mumbai (India) from December 5 to 10, attracting the participation of 400 athletes from 45 countries and territories around the world. The Vietnamese delegation included six athletes: Pham Van Mach, Nguyen Van Lam, Nguyen Anh Thong, Nguyen Thi My Linh, Duong Hong Ngoc and Tran Thi Cam Tu.

At the end of five days of competition, the Vietnamese team won big with two gold medals, one silver medal, and two bronze medals.

After four years of missed appointments, athlete Pham Van Mach returned to the top position in his specialty class of 55 kg.

In 2013 in Hungary, the "ant" registered for the 60kg category and only finished second. Returning to the 55kg category, the seven-time Asian champion had a perfect performance that convinced the judges to win the gold medal. This is the fourth time in his career that the An Giang native has won the world championship after 2001, 2009 and 2010.

The remaining gold medal went to Nguyen Van Lam in the 65 kg category, after winning the silver medal in the 70 kg category last year. 2013 world champion Nguyen Anh Thong failed to defend his title in the 60 kg category, finishing second in this year’s tournament.

In addition to the excellent achievements of these three athletes, Vietnamese bodybuilding also won two bronze medals from Nguyen Thi My Linh (women's 55 kg weight class) and Tran Thi Cam Tu (fitness for female athletes up to 1.60 meters tall).
