The reason why MC Quyen Linh and Doan Quoc Dam were not punished despite advertising against regulations
The Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information invited MC Quyen Linh and Doan Quoc Dam to work and warn them because of inappropriate advertising.
According to the report of the conference reviewing the work of the first 6 months of the year, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism reminded 2 artists, MC Quyen Linh and actor Doan Quoc Dam, for being involved in illegal advertising activities.
Specifically, MC Quyen Linh was warned for advertising food inconsistently with one of the prescribed documents, causing confusion about the announced uses of the product.
Meanwhile, actor Doan Quoc Dam was warned for advertising a milk product that replaces breast milk for children under 24 months old - a product that is prohibited from advertising under current regulations.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen - Deputy Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) said that the Department has invited two artists to work. However, because the advertising videos were made from 2022-2023, the statute of limitations for administrative sanctions in the field of advertising has expired.
Therefore, the Department reminded MC Quyen Linh and Doan Quoc Dam about advertising. The Department's leaders hope that artists will be more careful in accepting advertisements in the future.
The situation of celebrities (KOLs), including some editors, journalists... accepting to advertise food and health food but violating advertising laws is happening commonly.
There are many cases of incorrect or misleading advertising about the quality, price, and uses of products and services - especially items that directly affect health such as food, medicine, and medical examination and treatment services.
The main reason is believed to be that advertisers lack knowledge of advertising regulations, or do not thoroughly research the product before accepting to advertise.
The Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information recommends that artists and KOLs need to carefully research the product, check the ingredients, uses, and documents related to the product, have a sense of responsibility to the community, avoid exaggerated advertising, product uses, and disregard for profit and sales.
