MU has Rojo, Nani leaves Old Trafford

Early this morning, Man Utd announced that they have reached an agreement to transfer Marcos Rojo to Sporting Lisbon. Midfielder Luis Nani will move in the opposite direction on loan.

On the club's homepage, Man Utd announced that they have reached an agreement with Sporting Lisbon to buy defender Marcos Rojo, for £16 million according to Sporting. The deal will be completed after Rojo passes the mandatory medical examination and agrees personal terms with the Red Devils.

At the same time, Sporing also confirmed that Nani, 27 years old, is returning to the club on loan after 7 years joining Man Utd from Lisbon.

Rojo can play well as a centre-back and left-back. At the 2014 World Cup, he started 6 matches and helped Argentina reach the final with a defense considered the most solid in the tournament.

The deal was announced just hours after Rojo told Argentine radio station Continental that it was a “dream come true” to play for United. Last week, Rojo skipped training after Sporting refused to accept the Red Devils’ offer, but he later apologised.

In a statement released to the Lisbon Stock Exchange, Sporting made public Man Utd's payment schedule for the deal. Specifically, Sporting will receive 8 million pounds immediately, 4 million on December 1 this year and the remaining 4 million on July 1 next year. In addition, they will receive an additional 20% of the transfer fee if Man Utd sells Rojo for a price higher than 18.4 million pounds.

Thus, Rojo will become Man Utd's third new player this summer, after midfielder Ander Herrera and left-back Luke Shaw.
