MU lost to Swansea for the third consecutive time
Man Utd's unbeaten streak was halted with a 1-2 defeat to Swansea. A defeat that exposed all the weaknesses of the Manchester team. Louis van Gaal once said he wanted to get revenge on Swansea but in the end he suffered his third consecutive defeat to the Welsh team.

Too much shadow, too little creativity
Those who expected an improvement in Man Utd's playing style will be disappointed. At the Liberty Stadium, the red-shirted players were not "free" in their thinking. They played constrainedly, lacking ideas and flexibility between positions. In the first half, MU had 65% of the ball possession but sharp attacks were rare.
On the contrary, Swansea, despite playing defensively, always knew how to shake Romero’s goal with coordinated attacks, aiming at the “lighthouse” Gomis. The French striker had the most dangerous situation in the first half when he dribbled past both Blind and Smalling before finishing off the post.
The problem for MU is that they have too many problems. The defense is not solid, the midfield does not do a good job of building the game while the attack is lackluster. This is the match where Van Gaal used two midfielders who often sit on the bench, Herrera and Schweinsteiger. And he only received a positive response from the Spanish midfielder, while the former Bayern Munich player was still a daily disappointment (it is difficult to understand why Van Gaal still let Schweinsteiger play the whole match).

Mata scored but could not help MU avoid defeat |
If there is one positive aspect of MU’s play in this match, it is the combination of Mata and Herrera. The two Spaniards with their technical and creative qualities complemented each other very well. MU’s best situations almost all came from this pair.
First, Herrera's delicate pass to Mata missed the post in the middle of the first half. In the 60th minute, Mata was set up again by Herrera but unfortunately the former Chelsea midfielder's shot was too weak. However, Mata was still the most commendable player for MU in this match when he scored the opening goal from a very quick dive to tap the ball in.
Obviously, MU still has some excellent individuals. But their biggest problem at the moment is that the style of play that Van Gaal has built is not sharp and cohesive enough. Dangerous moves only come from individual efforts, not the result of a convincing game. So the whole match, MU had 63% possession of the ball, shot 11 times (Swansea only had 9) but had to accept a bitter 1-2 defeat. What's the point of holding the ball so much when you can't find a way to the opponent's goal?

MU MUST LEARN FROM SWANSEA
Louis van Gaal's MU should respect Swansea as their teacher. In all three matches since last season, the Manchester team lost to their Welsh opponents with the same score of 1-2. Van Gaal has no reason to justify why his students played less effectively than Swansea.
The attack was the clear difference between the two sides. As slow and insensitive as Rooney was, Gomis was precise and effective in the opposite half. In 90 minutes, Rooney missed no less than three chances to score. First, he broke free in the 18th minute, but was too slow to let Williams clear. In the middle of the first half, Rooney chipped the ball too gently into the hands of the opposing goalkeeper. By the end of the match, the striker wearing the number 10 shirt destroyed the last of the little hopes of the MU fans when he missed a face-to-face with Fabianski.
Meanwhile, Gomis was causing chaos in the red shirt defense with his fierce runs and perfect finishing skills. In the situation to increase the score to 2-1, Gomis escaped like a whirlwind and finished gently, after a classy pass from Ayew. A goal-setting move that could make Van Gaal crave. His team has not reached such a level of smoothness.
MU's first defeat of the season came in the fourth round, early enough for Van Gaal and his team to make amends. But can they be fixed when Van Gaal's MU has not made much progress over the past two seasons?
