Engels expressed his hatred for the tyranny and arbitrariness of exploitative mandarins. His philosophical studies during his time in Berlin, his time in military service... led this intelligent, strong-willed and determined young man further on the path of science.

However, it is noteworthy that during the nearly two years that F. Engels lived and worked in Manchester (England), from the fall of 1842, with his close study of the economic life and political development of England, and especially his direct participation in the workers' movement, he created a fundamental change in his worldview.

Some of F. Engels's works sent to Manchester, and introduced in the "French-German Yearbook" such as "Sketches contributing to the criticism of political economy"; "The situation of the working class in England"; "Thomas Carlay, past and present"... helped readers of that time to know the process of transformation from idealism and democracy - revolution to dialectical materialism and communism, of the author himself. Further evidence is that he stood on the materialist point of view and the position of socialism to criticize the political economy of A. Smith and D. Ricardo; exposed the reactionary political point of view of Carlay when he stood on the position of the feudal aristocracy to criticize capitalism.

When mentioning F. Engels, we cannot help but mention his comrade and great friend, C. Marx (1818-1883). F. Engels was 2 years younger than C. Marx, and he died 12 years after C. Marx (1895). It was thanks to the emotional encounter and ideological agreement that led to the association of their names with the birth and development of a new worldview, named Marx. That is Marxism, later supplemented and developed by V. Lenin to become a sharp and widespread tool among the proletariat around the world!

One of the outstanding works, which will certainly be discussed for a long time by C. Marx and F. Engels, besides Capital (consisting of three volumes, volume 1 written by Marx, volumes 2 and 3 written by Engels after Marx's death) is "The Communist Manifesto" published in 1848. In this theoretical work, for the first time, the two men systematized the basic contents of Marxism in the most concise form, fully expressing the dialectical materialist worldview and basic theories on capitalism, scientific socialism, political economy, the historical mission of the working class, party theory... "The Manifesto" is also an important historical document, becoming the first platform of the Communists.

Since the “Communist Manifesto” until now, more than 160 years, through his theoretical and practical activities, F. Engels, together with C. Marx, has brought the workers’ movement from spontaneous to self-conscious, developing increasingly strongly. And in that process, their doctrines have been constantly tested, nurtured, and persuaded, even in the distant land of Vietnam, through the diligent search and creative application of the patriot and revolutionary Nguyen Ai Quoc - Ho Chi Minh...
