Malaysia Airlines "lost contact" with plane carrying 239 people
On March 8, Malaysia Airlines said a plane carrying 239 people en route to Beijing lost contact with air traffic control after leaving the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.
Malaysia Airlines said flight MH370 disappeared at 2:40 a.m. local time on March 8 (6:40 p.m. GMT on March 7).

The Boeing 777-200 left Kuala Lumpur after midnight on March 8 and was scheduled to arrive in Beijing at 6:30 a.m. local time (10:30 p.m. GMT on March 7).
"Malaysia Airlines is working with the authorities, who have deployed a search and rescue team to locate the aircraft," the airline said./.
