The Competition Management Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that on September 25, the Malaysian Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) issued a preliminary conclusion on the anti-dumping investigation into color-coated steel products imported from China and Vietnam.
According to MITI's conclusion, the temporary anti-dumping tax applied to color-coated steel products of Vietnamese exporters is from 5.68% -16.45%. Meanwhile, for the same products imported from China, MITI will apply an anti-dumping tax of 52.1% in this case. The reason is that Chinese exporters did not cooperate with Malaysian authorities in investigating the case.

MITI said that the above preliminary conclusion tax rate will be applied by Malaysia from September 26, 2015 to January 23, 2016. To continue to protect their rights and interests before the investigation agency issues the final conclusion on the anti-dumping case, the Competition Management Department reminds the relevant exporting units to send the submission with final comments, as well as necessary evidence to the Malaysian investigation agency before October 14, 2015.
Malaysia initiated an investigation into color-coated steel products from China and Vietnam on April 28, 2015 at the request of the plaintiff, FIW Steel Sdn. Bhd.
The plaintiff's allegation is that color-coated steel products imported from China and Vietnam have a dumping margin of up to 13.68%, causing significant damage to the Malaysian industry.
According to data in the petition on the import of this item by Malaysia, during the investigation period, the total import volume of color-coated steel from Vietnam was about 37.95 million tons, accounting for about 68.2% of the import market share into Malaysia./.
