Man City lost points against Newcastle

Rafa Benitez and his team have one more point in the race to stay in the Premier League, after a 1-1 draw with Man City in the make-up round on April 19.

Sergio Aguero controversially opened the scoring, heading home from an offside position. The Argentine striker became the second fastest player to score 100 Premier League goals, behind Newcastle legend Alan Shearer.

The home team equalized in the first half, thanks to Vurnon Anita. Newcastle.in desperate need of points to stay in the leaguefought with all their determination. At the end of the match, goalkeeper Joe Hart saved Man City by blocking Wijnaldum's dangerous shot.

Newcastle are second to last with 29 points, one less than Sunderland and two less than 17th-placed Norwich. Two of these three teams will say goodbye to the English top flight next year.

Newcastle had their first win under Rafa Benitez last weekend and this make-up game was a valuable point against strong rivals Man City. It was late but Benitez finally turned the "Magpies" into a cohesive team, playing with solidity in defense and dangerous on the counter-attack.

Andros Townsend's run down the right flank is a model for his teammates to follow if they are to keep their Premier League side in the top flight. The next four games will be Newcastle's real finals, with opponents Liverpool, Palace, Aston Villa and Tottenham.

"We will keep the faith and hope to win the next match. Everyone has done everything to stay alive. Hopefully Newcastle will keep this momentum," coach Benitez shared.

Man City welcomed back captain Vincent Kompany and midfielder Raheem Sterling, after injuries. But the duo did not play well.

After the game, Man City have the same number of games as leaders Leicester but are 12 points behind. The Etihad team could now lose third place if Arsenal beat West Brom in midweek. Just below, Man Utd could also add fuel to the fire in the Top 4 battle if they beat Crystal Palace.
