Man Utd officially appoints Solskjaer as interim coach until the end of the 2018-2019 season

"Manchester United is in my heart and it is an honour to return as manager. I am looking forward to working with the talented squad, the staff and everyone at the club," new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said in an official statement on the club's website.

Solskjaer's contract with Man Utd will last until the end of the 2018-2019 season. He immediately takes charge and his first challenge is the away match against Cardiff on December 23.

Cardiff is also the only team in the foggy country that Solskjaer has experience leading. In 2014, he took over the team right after promotion but did not achieve success and was fired before the end of the season. In 30 matches in charge of the Welsh team, Solskjaer had 9 wins, 5 draws and 16 defeats.

Returning to Man Utd this time is not only Solskjaer but also another notable figure, assistant Mike Phelan, the right-hand man of coach Ferguson from 2008-2013. Mr. Phelan helped coach Ferguson with tactics during the last period of the Scottish coach leading Man Utd. This was the position that Carlos Queiroz held.

Along with Phelan, Solskjaer is also assisted by two former assistants under Mourinho, Michael Carrick and Kieran McKenna. Solskjaer and his assistants are considered the most knowledgeable team of Man Utd since Ferguson.
