Man Utd terminates contract with Ibrahimovic

As rumored in the press over the past few days, the "Red Devils" confirmed that they will not renew the contract with striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Man Utd had a one-year extension clause in the contract signed with Ibrahimovic last year. And according to the announcement made on the evening of June 9, the "Red Devils" decided not to activate this clause.

Man Utd's decision not to renew also means Ibrahimovic will become a free agent from June 30. The 35-year-old striker can join any club without being tied to a transfer fee.

Ibrahimovic had a relatively successful season for Man Utd. With 28 goals in 46 matches, the star wearing the number 9 shirt helped the team win three titles including the Community Shield, the League Cup and the Europa League. Ibrahimovic was also Man Utd's top scorer during the season.

Ibrahimovic was injured in the Europa League match against Anderlecht, and will miss the final 10 games of the season. After successful knee surgery in the United States, the 35-year-old striker will be out of action until around January 2018.

According to agent Mino Raiola, Ibrahimovic has many options after leaving Man Utd. "Number 9" can go to China, or join the US championship early next year. Playing for another English team is also an option.

Meanwhile, to replace Ibrahimovic, Man Utd could buy Alvaro Morata from Real. The Spanish striker is determined to find a regular starting position, something he has not had at the Bernabeu.
