Mancini: “Aguero is Man City's Romario”

The Argentine striker scored twice for Man City on his first official debut in the new shirt. Aguero scored two goals and assisted another in the 4-0 win over Swansea in the first round of the Premier League.

With a transfer fee of up to 45 million euros, Aguero is the most expensive player on the summer transfer market in 2011 so far. But the Argentine striker quickly scored for Man City to prove his worth. In response, coach Mancini praised Maradona's son-in-law.

“I know he is not 100% fit yet. Aguero can play even better. He has only trained with the team for a week. Aguero needs 2-3 weeks to be in optimal physical condition. He is a copy of Romario. They have similar qualities. Man City have a super striker.”

Mancini is not the first and probably not the last to express his admiration for Aguero's talent. When the Argentine international was playing for Atletico Madrid, he was praised by his Argentina teammate Mascherano: "Aguero is extremely dangerous because no one knows which direction he will move. Sergio's (Aguero) dribbling skills are 10/10. His creativity and imagination are the same. Sergio never repeats what he has done, not even once. He is an expert at inventing new things."

Another famous player, Drogba, once had kind words for Aguero: "The only thing I can say about Aguero is that he is excellent. I do not mean to disrespect Atletico but I still have to say that such a great player should play for big clubs."

Now Aguero is at Man City. He still has a lot to prove in the Premier League. The season has only just begun. There are still many difficult tests ahead. But at least Aguero has started perfectly.

Mancini described him as a “copy” of Romario. Let’s see if he can become a goalscoring machine at City of Manchester like Romario did for PSV Eindhoven or at Barca.
