Kevin Daly, 63 years old (USA), just had surgery to remove a 13 kg tumor from his abdomen.

At first, Kenvin Daly thought he had a beer belly like many other men with belly fat.In 2015, after undergoing heart surgery and losing more than 15 kg but his stomach still didn't change, Mr. Daly thought he had a problem.

"I thought they must have left surgical instruments in my stomach," Daly, who lives in New Jersey, told the newspaper.NewYorkDailyNews. NSuspicious, he asked the doctor to check his health.

After CT scan, cDoctors found a mass in Daly's abdomen and diagnosed him with liposarcoma, a cancer that develops in the fat cells of soft tissues. The tumor looks like fatty tissue under a microscope, making diagnosis difficult.

The surgical team discovered the tumor was nearly three times larger than they thought and was surrounding one of his kidneys. The tumor weighed 13.6 kg and was the largest tumor doctors at Lenox Hill Hospital had ever removed. They said that if Mr Daly had not received surgery in time, he might not have survived.

Medical experts believe the tumor had been growing in Mr. Daly’s abdomen for about 10 to 15 years before it could have grown so large. In addition, Mr. Daly was lucky that the tumor had not hindered the function of any of his organs.

"I feel great. I've lost a lot of weight and when I left the hospital I weighed 160 pounds, the same as I did in high school. Now I'm about 180 pounds, the same as I did in college. I feel like I'm 35 again," said a delighted Daly.
