Are you worried that buying another phone will cost you more money on your electricity bill? Read on to find out how much more money you will spend on electricity each year if you buy another piece of technology.

According to Forbes, charging an iPad every day for a year will cost you 12kWh of electricity. In general, depending on the state's electricity tariff, you will lose a certain amount of money. For example, if you regularly use more than 400kWh/month, you will have to pay this 12kWh at a price of 2,141 VND. That means your annual payment is 25,692 VND. In the US, the amount you have to pay is 1.5 USD.

A smartphone with a 1,440mAh battery will require 2,000 watt hours of energy per year, or 2kWh. That means you will spend about $0.25 a year on electricity to charge your device if you live in the US. In Vietnam, with a usage rate of over 400kWh/month, it will cost you VND4,282/year to charge this phone. Obviously, the newer Android and iPhone devices have larger batteries, which means your electricity bill will also increase slightly.

A laptop will cost you more in electricity. It takes about 72kWh to charge a notebook for a year. That means at today’s highest electricity prices, you’ll pay $7.95. (In the US, that’s $8.)
