Comrade Pham Hung's real name is Pham Van Thien, born on June 11, 1912 in Long Ho village, Chau Thanh district, Vinh Long province (now Long Phuoc commune, Long Ho district, Vinh Long province). He is a revolutionary activist and a great politician of Vietnam. Participating in revolutionary activities since 1928, when he was only 16 years old, during his career, Pham Hung held many important positions such as: Secretary of the Southern Regional Party Committee, concurrently Deputy Director of the Southern Public Security Department; Deputy Secretary of the Central Bureau for the South; Member of the Politburo, Member of the Central Party Secretariat, Deputy Prime Minister; Secretary of the Central Bureau for the South; Vice Chairman of the Council of Ministers concurrently Minister of the Interior (1980 - 1986); Chairman of the Council of Ministers (1987 - 1988) ...
The stamp set "Commemorating the 100th anniversary of Pham Hung's birth (June 11, 1912 - March 10, 1988)" was designed by artist Vu Kim Lien of the Vietnam Post Corporation. Presented in a graphic style with strong colors, this postage stamp focuses on introducing a portrait of Pham Hung when he was Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on the background of the national flag. Issued with the above stamp is also a first-issue envelope (FDC) measuring 180 x 110 mm. The stamp is printed in multi-color offset on standard paper with a coated back at the Postal Stamp Printing Company (HCMC).
This is the third set of postage stamps on the theme of commemorating the 100th birth anniversary of historical figures, issued this year. Previously, in May 2012, the Ministry of Information and Communications issued two sets of postage stamps "Commemorating the 100th birth anniversary of Nguyen Huy Tuong (May 6, 1912 - July 25, 1960)" and "Commemorating the 100th birth anniversary of Ton That Tung (May 10, 1912 - May 7, 1982)".
