Land dispute, brother-in-law hacked wife's cousin to death

Mr. Ngan Van Vong, Chief of Police of Nghia Lien Commune, Nghia Dan District, said that a serious murder case had just occurred in the commune.

Accordingly, at about 3:00 p.m. on April 16, 2016, Luong Tran Chu (born in 1965, residing in Tan Thiet hamlet, Nghia Lien commune) used a knife to slash to death the victim Luong Van Nghi (a resident of the same hamlet).

According to Mr. Vong, the afternoon before the serious crime, both the suspect and the victim went out drinking to celebrate a friend's wedding. When they got home, they had a conflict and argued about land issues. While drunk, Luong Van Chu used a knife to slash Nghi many times until Nghi collapsed. After committing the crime, Chu fled the area.

Upon receiving the news, Nghia Dan District Police and Nghe An Provincial Police arrived at the scene and began investigating the incident. Authorities seized a knife and the perpetrator’s motorbike.

The autopsy showed that the victim's body had 5 slashes, including fatal slashes to the back that broke the spine and punctured the lungs.

At around 9pm on April 16, the autopsy was completed. The authorities handed over the body to the victim's family for burial according to local customs.

The police are currently searching for the perpetrator who is hiding in the area. It is known that Chu's wife is his uncle's daughter, Nghi is his uncle's son. Nghi calls Chu his brother-in-law.
