China's Ministry of Defense confirmed on April 1 that two pilots were killed in a Su-27 fighter jet crash.

The plane caught fire after crashing.

The accident occurred at 1:35 p.m. on March 31 while the aircraft was on a training mission. The aircraft crashed into the beach near Rongcheng City, Shandong Province, Southeast China. There was no information about the cause of the accident or reports of casualties or property damage on the ground. Immediately after the accident, the air force arrived to deal with the aftermath. China purchased the Su-27 aircraft in the early 1990s and many of these aircraft are nearing their "end of life" stage.
