Plane carrying 139 people makes emergency landing due to engine fire

On the afternoon of July 3, a Chinese airline plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Hainan province (China) due to a fire in the engine.

A China Southern Airlines B737-800 crashed while flying from Guangzhou, Guangdong Province (China) to Bangkok (Thailand). The plane's alarm system signaled an engine fire, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing at Sanya Phoenix International Airport, Sanya City, Hainan Province.

Local officials said the plane was carrying 132 passengers and seven crew members at the time.

The plane landed safely, but at least 10 people suffered minor injuries while being evacuated from the plane, according to reports. There was no further information about the engine fire alarm system.

Currently, authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident.
