AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes said the plane, belonging to AirAsia X - AirAsia's long-haul operating company - landed safely at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
According to Mr. Fernandes, this was just a minor incident due to an automatic thruster not working properly, however, the plane was still able to fly normally.
Mr. Fernandes also said the airline would replace the plane and the flight would continue.
This is the latest incident involving this low-cost airline. Previously, on December 28, 2014, AirAsia flight QZ8501 with 162 people on board crashed into the Java Sea while en route from Surabaya (Indonesia) to Singapore.
Although this is the first aviation disaster of the AirAsia group, it comes after two accidents that killed over 500 people of Malaysia Airlines in 2014, raising many concerns about the safety of Malaysian airlines.
