NATO aircraft scrambled to intercept Russian aircraft over the Baltic Sea
Voice of Russia radio station quoted Latvian military officials as saying that NATO fighter jets were ordered to intercept Russian Air Force Il-20 aircraft over the Baltic Sea.
RIA Novosti quoted a statement from the Latvian Army confirming: "Italian Typhoon fighter jets protecting NATO's Baltic airspace had to take off on February 13 to intercept the Russian Air Force's Il-20 aircraft."

A similar incident occurred on February 9, when Latvian military officials also announced that Typhoon fighter jets had to take off to intercept a Russian Air Force Il-20 aircraft.
