“Eight servicemen, including crew members, were killed (in the Cuban plane crash). A commission … is investigating the cause of the accident,” the ministry said.
Cuban government officials have not provided further information about the crash of the Cuban An-26 plane.
Most of the aircraft used in Cuba were produced during the Soviet era. The Antonov factory manufactured the An-26 in Kiev between 1969 and 1986.
The latest plane crash in Cuba was an Aero Caribbean ATR-72-212. It caught fire as it crashed, killing all 68 people on board.
