According to the Huffington Post, yesterday the military aircraft collided at Bellows Air Force Base in Waimanalo, Hawaii. Thick black smoke billowing from the crash site could be seen from miles away. The Honolulu Fire Department received the information and began deploying response forces at 11:45 local time.
"An MV-22 Osprey assigned to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit made a rough landing during a training exercise at Bellows Training Area today at approximately 11 a.m. Hawaii time," a statement from the US Marine Corps said.
According to initial information, there were 21 people on board when the incident occurred, and at least 12 marines were injured. The crashed aircraft was an MV-22 Osprey.
Bellows is used as a training facility for Marines and other military units. The US Marine Corps Base Hawaii announced on May 15 that there would be loud noise over the weekend due to “landing and flight training” at Bellows.
