Mazda CX-5 2017 discounted to clear inventory

The two versions 2.5 2WD and AWD are discounted by 20 million, to 829 and 879 million, plus 9 million for insurance.

After the launch of the 2018 CX-5, dealers still have inventory of the 2017 CX-5 in two versions with 2.5-liter engines, the 2.0 version is out of stock. To clear the inventory, Truong Hai applied a new price for the 2017 CX-5, thereby reducing 20 million compared to last month.

In addition to the direct discount of 20 million on the price, customers get an additional discount of 9 million on insurance, so the CX-5 2.5 2WD is sold at 820 million, the AWD version is sold at 870 million. Meanwhile, the two similar versions but 2018 are sold at 940 and 990 million, with the advantage of a new design and more equipment.

This is the lowest price of the CX-5 2017 this year. In August-September, when car prices hit rock bottom, the lowest price for the CX-5 AWD was only 890 million.

The notable point is that the car is purchased at a reduced price, but the registration fee will still be applied at a high level, 940 million for the single-wheel drive version and 980 million for the two-wheel drive version, equivalent to the price of the new 2018 version.

Thus, if a customer buys a 2.5 AWD in Hanoi for 870 million, the registration fee will be 980x12%=117.6 million. The total cost after adding all the items will be around 1,010 million, not including the cost of installing additional accessories (if any).

Industry experts say that during the year, if the car model is the same, the Ministry of Finance will not change the registration fee if the price change is not more than 20%. At the beginning of the year, the CX-5 2.5 AWD cost 990 million, now it is 879 million, the change is 111 million, less than 20%, so the registration fee will not change.

The 2018 market will be a fierce battle between imported and assembled cars. While assembled cars enjoy a 0% import tax on components, imported cars are facing difficulties under Decree 116. CX-5 and Tucson are assembled while CR-V is imported. Price will greatly affect the outcome of the battle. Truong Hai and Thanh Cong delivered new cars at the beginning of the year, but Honda may have to wait until at least March 2018 for CR-V batches from Thailand to clear customs.
