Mazda2 sells better than Camry, Fortuner
The small B-class car model that has just been imported to Vietnam, Mazda2 2015, continues to stir up the production place - Thailand - and entered the top 10 best-selling car models last month.
The latest statistics released show that the Thai auto market is still on a downward trend and shows no signs of stopping. Last June, auto sales here fell 13% to only 60,322 units registered, contributing to a 16% drop in sales in the first half of this year to 369,109 units.
Amidst the decline, Toyota remained the most popular car brand in Thailand with nearly 22,000 units sold, accounting for 36% of the market share and double that of the second-placed brand, Isuzu. In third place was Honda with nearly 8,000 units sold, accounting for 13% of the market share.

Similar to previous months, Japanese car brands Mitsubishi, Nissan and Mazda continued to be in the next positions with sales from more than 2,900 to nearly 3,800 units, not allowing any other non-Japanese car brand to be in the top 6 positions of Thai cars.
In 7th place, Ford sold nearly 2,700 cars in June, accounting for 4.5% of the market share, while Mercedes is still a successful example in the luxury car segment with more than 1,200 cars sold, accounting for 2.1% of the market share. A series of other famous brands such as Chevrolet, BMW, Hyundai have modest sales and cannot enter the top 10.
For each specific model, after a short period of momentum due to the transition to a new generation, Toyota Hilux has returned to its familiar No. 1 position in Thailand with nearly 13,000 units sold last month, with a market share of more than 21% of the total market. Isuzu D-Max dropped to second place with nearly 9,000 units, equivalent to 14.6% of the market share.
The next 5 positions are all Japanese models and have an insignificant difference, only fluctuating from more than 2,100 to more than 2,500 units in the past month, namely Vios, HR-V, Yaris, City and Triton. The best-selling pickup truck in Vietnam, Ranger, is only the 3rd most popular in Thailand in the pickup truck segment, at 8th place in the top 10 best-selling vehicles in the entire market.

Notably, the small car Mazda2 2015 continues to attract Thai consumers with sales of more than 1,500 units in June, entering the top 10 and only less than 50 units behind the Toyota Corolla. In Vietnam, the Mazda2 2015 has just been imported from Thailand and launched in early July, creating a phenomenon in the B-class car segment thanks to its impressive design and the most advanced safety equipment in the segment, at a competitive price.
Many best-selling car models in Vietnam are not popular in Thailand, such as Camry with more than 700 units sold, Fortuner with more than 600 units, CR-V with more than 400 units...
