MC Thanh Thanh Huyen: 'I bought my own house and car at the age of 25'
The female MC is satisfied with her current life when she has a house, a car, and does her favorite job.
- The past four months have changed a lot in my needs, living habits and thinking. I am simpler and more cautious in everything. Stress is something everyone has experienced at least once during the social distancing period. I consider myself lucky to have healthy family and myself. I tell myself to be grateful and love more every day.
My work was completely suspended when the pandemic first broke out. The entertainment industry was in crisis due to the pandemic, so I had almost no income. After that, I learned to adapt and convert to digital to host online programs. I missed the stage so much that I dreamed of hosting. I longed to host events, wear evening gowns, and meet people. In the past, I woke up early every day to cook, film programs all day, study foreign languages online in the afternoon, and do housework at night, prepare food for the next day, and answer work emails.
I also focus on studying my favorite subjects, reading and producing a lot of content revolving around my personal life to interact with the audience. I want to encourage everyone to think lightly, positively and develop themselves in many different ways. When the epidemic is over, we will become more excellent and advance faster.

- How did you adapt to online filming?
- Predicting the prolonged epidemic situation, before the Directive 16 "stay where you are" was issued, I immediately invested in a full set of equipment including backdrop, lights, camera, recording microphone, airpods headphones... The hardest thing about working online is being alone. I do everything myself from makeup, hair, setting up the scene, shooting, filming, editing, writing the script... There were days when I dressed up beautifully, but by the time I finished setting the shooting angle, my clothes and hair were messy. Effort alone is not enough, you also have to be lucky. If the connection has a problem, I have to start over. Only I encourage myself not to be discouraged.
Thanks to that, my program crew and IRed lipstickI have recorded about 50 episodes. Including programs for organizations, brands, livestreams, about 70 programs were produced online at home. I also hosted an auction to raise money to buy ventilators for the front line against the epidemic and raised a large amount of money, so I am very happy. I am very proud that I have not been away from the audience for a single day.
- Recently, audiences often call you "the MC who can present 3,000 words without a script". How do you practice this skill?
- Since middle school, I have been studying and working at the same time, so I didn't have much time to study for university entrance exams. I found many effective ways to memorize. Having hosted a lot, I felt that holding a script every time I MC makes me less flexible on stage. Therefore, I decided to practice not having a script. At first, it was quite difficult because the script contained many names and titles. Gradually, I tried to remember which part to go on stage and host that part bare-handed.
To lead without a script, I first practiced memorizing simple sentences and words. I wrote them down on paper, recorded myself, and listened to them over and over again every day. Later, when I got used to it, I started to memorize random names and titles with complex structures. Actually, you have to believe in yourself and your words, otherwise you will never have the courage to lead without a script.
So far, my record is 3,000 words without a script. My next goal is 5,000 words in bilingual.
-Besides the ability to lead empty-handed, what do you see as your strengths when pursuing the MC career?
- I believe I was born to do this job. Since I was 11 years old, I have always tried to make myself a perfect MC. There is always a limitation for all MCs, not just me, that this profession requires too much knowledge in every field, spending a lifetime to learn is never enough.
In my opinion, the most important factor that determines the success of an MC is to make a difference. Different in all factors: voice, hosting style, charisma... I watch many programs of international and Vietnamese MCs, read comments and suggestions from the audience to know what is best and most suitable for me, and at the same time learn a foreign language.
- What is the most memorable incident that happened to you while hosting?
- Forgetting to double-check the information the editor wrote for me before presenting. That was also my biggest lesson. Luckily, that incident only happened once and I did not allow myself to make the same mistake twice. From now on, I always double-check the information before speaking.

-What do you say about the news that you bought your own house and a billion-dollar car at the age of 25?
- Exactly, but please allow me to keep my specific monthly income a secret. Although I am invited to host many shows, I am quite careful when accepting them so I don't host every day. I prefer to host memorable shows and have careful preparation rather than hosting in an industrial style.
I believe that being an MC is a suitable job for those who like an interesting life, traveling to many places, learning new things, and meeting many people. Every day is different, great! (laughs).
- Earn money, how do you pamper yourself?
- I always divide my income into separate, very clear expenses such as work expenses, team expenses, venture capital, charity and savings. I use the interest to pamper myself such as traveling and shopping.
-Famous and beautiful, how do you overcome the temptations of showbiz?
- There were times when I thought why I didn't choose easier paths. But I'm an MC, so no one will take my words seriously if I live wrongly. Not necessarily wrong to others, but wrong to my conscience and family's educational background. That keeps me sane in showbiz.
I am currently in a relationship. I like kind people before, during and after the relationship. Nowadays, there are many rich and talented people but very few kind people. Life is fine as it is now. I will keep my upcoming work plans private.
