Every New Year's Eve, TV audiences always remember MC Thao Van's closing greetings and New Year wishes when the Tao Quan program ends. However, this year she will not appear as usual.

A few minutes ago, before the first recording of Tao Quan 2022 at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace in Hanoi, MC Thao Van shared a line that made many people regretful.

"How do I feel right now? It's really hard to describe. Just now, when I saw the Tao Quan recording schedule, my heart sank. Today, Tao Quan is recording, and at this time every year - for the past 19 years - I've finished my makeup and gotten everything ready, even though I know I'll have to wait about 4 hours to come out to say goodbye...

This year, due to the new format, there will be no more finale, so I will not appear at the last minute of the program to wish everyone a happy new year. The crew probably discussed this a lot and decided at the last minute, but at first, I still accepted the Tao recording schedule. When I was informed that I would not appear, my tears really welled up, how could I not, when the program has been something so dear to me for the past 19 years…

Today, some newspapers reported that I left the Tao Quan program. That is not true, but because of the program's requirements, and all of us - those who have participated in Tao Quan, will never leave that program. If so, it is only because of force majeure, because for us it is not just a program, it is love, memories, and longing for the past decades."

MC Thao Van's post attracted a lot of attention. Ngoc Ha - People's Artist Cong Ly's wife commented: "A team that has been together for a record amount of time, right? This year we couldn't gather enough people. Many of the audience were disappointed. Hopefully, next year's 20th anniversary will be brilliant and truly grand, sister."

Thus, this year, for the first time in the history of broadcasting, not only will MC Thao Van be absent, but also the two pillars of Tao Quan, Cong Ly (Bac Dau) and Xuan Bac (Nam Tao). VFC representative also confirmed that this year Tao Quan will not have an MC.

This is also the first year the show will be recorded without an audience due to the complicated developments of the pandemic. Tao Quan 2022 will be reduced to only 2 rehearsal sessions (January 15 and 16) and recording instead of 3 nights like previous years. The show will air at 8:10 p.m. on January 31, 2022, the 30th of Tet.
