Tips for fixing a section of a Word document for comparison and contrast.
Fixing a section of a Word document (vertically or horizontally) allows you to easily compare and contrast the content of different sections. This also makes it easier to remove duplicate content, reformat the layout, font, margins, etc., to create a document with consistent content and presentation. Follow this article to learn how to fix a section of a Word document.
How to fix a portion of a Word document horizontally
Open your document in Word.
In the main Microsoft Word interface, select View -> Split.

The text is now divided into two parts; you can change the size of the divider by moving the mouse cursor and dragging the dividing line to a new position.

You can remove the split by clicking View –> Remove Split, dragging the divider to the top or bottom edge of the window, or double-clicking the divider.
Here are a few things to keep in mind when splitting a document screen into two parts:
1. After dividing the document, click on the section you want to change, then select a different layout from the View bar. You can think of the two panes as two separate windows and use the View command to change the layout of the sections. For example, you could choose Print Layout for the top section and Web Layout for the bottom section.

2. Because it's the same document, any changes or formatting to the layout will affect both parts. For example, if you bold certain sections in the text above, the corresponding content in the text below will also be bolded.
3. You can set different zoom levels for the divided sections. This feature is very useful when you want to adjust the size of graphs and tables.
4. You can also use the divider as a print preview screen. Arrange the display of multiple pages on the screen by going to: View –> Multiple Pages to get an accurate overview of how the document design should look.

How to fix a portion of a Word document vertically
Microsoft Word only allows documents to be split horizontally. However, you can open the same document in two windows simultaneously as follows:
Open the document, select File -> View -> New Window
Then select View Side by Side

This will then open a new Word window similar to the main document, allowing you to work with the two documents side-by-side, like a vertical split.

If you scroll up or down, the adjacent section will move as well. If you want to freeze a section or only scroll a different part of the content, select Synchronous Scrolling to turn it off.
How to lock text boxes in Word
Besides fixing a portion of the document, you can also fix text in Word as follows:
On the toolbar, select the Developer tab -> Restrict Editing.

A panel will appear on the right side of the screen, where you can restrict editing permissions for specific parts or details of the document. Check the box "Allow only this type of editing in the document," then leave the "No changes" option selected below.

Next, you need to select all the content in the document by holding down the Ctrl+A key combination, then holding down the Ctrl key while clicking each cell, and then deleting them from the selection.
After selecting the content, check the Everyone box, then select Yes, Start Enforcing Protection. Enter your protection password and click OK.

The above is a method for fixing a section of a Word document for easy reference and comparison. Hopefully, you can apply this to handle your work more easily. We wish you gain valuable knowledge from this article.
