Tips to treat "leaking" houses and "sweating" furniture in humid weather
These days, the humid, damp weather causes the floor and furniture to "leak", mold, and smelly clothes, causing discomfort and affecting people's health. Below are a few tips to help you treat "leakage" in your house when the weather is humid.
Buy 10-15kg of quicklime, put it in a wooden or paper box, place it under the bed or in the corner of the room.
When the weather is not too humid, do not open the lid of the bucket. When the weather is very humid, or the house is very wet, open the lid of the bucket, close the door, and open only the necessary windows. Because quicklime is a good desiccant, it can absorb all the moisture in the room, making the room dry.
In addition, dried charcoal also has the effect of absorbing moisture, but the effect is not as good as quicklime. On the contrary, charcoal can be used many times, by drying it in the sun after use and then using it again.
In addition, some habits of people that seem to be useful against dampness are counterproductive, making the house more damp. According to construction experts, the more actively opening the doors will cause the wind to carry water vapor and humid air from outside, making the floor more uncomfortably wet. Some people have the habit of turning on the fan to "dry" the house, but this will cause condensation of water vapor, causing a musty, musty smell.

The best way to limit humidity is to close the doors, especially in the morning. At noon, when there is sunlight or the temperature increases, take advantage of opening the doors. Do not wipe the floor with a wet cloth, but use a dry towel to absorb all the moisture on the floor, to avoid slipping and falling because it is slippery. Families using air conditioning should turn the air conditioner on at a higher temperature to prevent moisture and deodorize.
Mold can also cause disease, especially in the elderly and children. Parents should not let their children walk barefoot or crawl on wet floors. Children are susceptible to colds, so they need to wear enough warm clothes, but absolutely do not wear clothes that are still damp or not completely dry. At the same time, pay attention to nutrition to increase the body's resistance.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Lecturer at Hanoi University of Science and Technology, plugging in and leaving electronic devices such as TVs, computers, DVD players, cameras, etc. in standby mode on humid days is very necessary to prevent mold. In addition, you should regularly (at least once a day) turn on the TV or computer to prevent moisture. In case the electronic device is damp, you should use a dryer to dry the inside to avoid electrical leakage, which can be dangerous when used. However, with complex electronic devices such as TVs, computers, etc., if there is a problem on a humid day, you should seek the help of an expert. Arbitrarily disassembling and improperly drying can lead to short circuits and burns in the electronic circuits inside.
To preserve electronic devices such as cameras and recorders, you can put them in a sealed box with a desiccant or put a light bulb in the box with a capacity of 25-60W depending on the size of the box to heat the device.
In addition, do not place these devices on the floor or close to the wall to avoid electric leakage or mold. The devices should be placed 1 meter above the ground, 10-15 cm away from the wall.
