Messi has the most votes, but Real dominates the best XI

Real had five players in the 2016-2017 team of the season voted by the Professional Footballers' Association.

Five Real players are present: Ramos, Marcelo, Modric, Kroos and Ronaldo. If we count transfers, Juventus have three faces: Buffon, Dani Alves (to PSG this summer) and Bonucci (AC Milan). Barca also have three players: Messi, Iniesta and Neymar (PSG).

The FIFA and PFA vote only counts results from the 2016-2017 season. The achievements of players transferred in the summer will be valid the following year.

According to Goal, among the 11 players in the typical squad, Messi received the most votes. 26,622 professional players from 71 countries were the authors of the votes.

This is the 11th consecutive year that Messi and Ronaldo have both been named in the best XI. Compared to last year's squad, this year's squad has only changed three players (Buffon, Bonucci and Neymar replace Neuer, Pique and Luis Suarez). Bonucci is the only player to be included in the squad for the first time this year.

Also at the Football Gala in London on the evening of October 23, FIFA awarded the Best Men's Player award to Ronaldo, Best Coach to Zidane, Best Goalkeeper to Buffon and Best Goal to Giroud.
