Messi and Neymar are worth 2.5 times more than Ronaldo
The annual report of the CIES Football Observatory research institute shows that the 2017 Ballon d'Or is far behind its competitors in terms of value.
According toCIES Football Observatory, the most valuable player today is Neymar, valued at $255 million - $8 million less than what PSG spent to recruit him in the summer of 2017.
Lionel Messi comes in second, valued at around $242 million. Tottenham striker Harry Kane is third with a value of $233 million.
Cristiano Ronaldo, the most successful player in 2017, ranked only 49th with a value of $96 million.

Of the 10 most valuable players, five are playing in the Premier League. Apart from Kane, the other four are Dele Alli, Kevin de Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba.
La Liga has two players in the top 10. In addition to Messi, the other is Antoine Griezmann (eighth) with a value of $180.5 million. The other two players in the top 10 are Kylian Mbappe (fourth) with a value of $230.5 million and Paulo Dybala (fifth) with a value of $209 million.
Barca's new blockbuster Philippe Coutinho is ranked 16th with a value of $147 million. The most expensive Spanish player is Alvaro Morata, ranked 20th, with a value of $129 million.
Liverpool's new recruit, the most expensive defender in history when recruited for $100 million, Virgil van Dijk is valued at $61 million.
