The announcement of the Federal Prosecutor General Jesus Murillo Karam at a press conference on the afternoon of November 7 in Mexico City, said that the missing teachers and students after being arrested by the police and handed over to the Guerreros Unidos criminal group were taken to a landfill in the city of Cocula.

Here, all 43 victims, 15 of whom were suffocated during police arrest, were killed. Their bodies were then burned along with car tires, garbage, charcoal... to destroy evidence.

The arson lasted from midnight on September 26 to 2 p.m. on September 27 (local time). The group then returned to clean up the scene and put the ashes in bags to throw into the San Juan River.

Federal police found several plastic bags containing remains that could be those of teachers and students, and Mexico will send the remains to Austria for testing, Attorney General Jesus Murillo Karam said.

Before reaching an exact conclusion, the Mexican Government still considers the 43 subjects above as missing and continues to investigate to determine that these victims do not belong to any criminal organization in the territory of Guerrero state.

The disappearance of 43 teachers and students occurred on the night of September 26 after a convoy carrying them was attacked in the city of Iguala, killing six people and injuring 25 others.

Many sources said that the disappearance was "involved" by "corrupt" local officials. This disappearance sparked a series of large protests in many major cities in Mexico.

President Enrique Pena Nieto has ordered all police in the cities of Iguala and Cocula to be disarmed and a full investigation into the incident has been launched.

Previously, on November 4, Mexican special police also arrested the former mayor and his wife of Iguala city on suspicion of involvement in the disappearance of 43 teachers and students./.
