On September 5, AP news agency reported that Microsoft Corporation introduced the Windows Server 2012 operating system, marking the first time they have released an important update to the server platform since 2009.

The above move is also considered a step forward by Microsoft before they launch the Windows 8 operating system for consumers next October.

Information from the "software giant" said that Windows Server 2012 has added features to make it easier to manage large server clusters in remote data centers.

Microsoft is now trying to tap into the cloud computing trend, so Windows Server 2012 is a major step towards achieving their goals.

Previously, the important server operating system versions that Microsoft provided to the market were in 2008 and 2009 (Windows Server 2008 and 2009).

Last year, the software giant released a preview version of Windows Server 2012 to developers.

Windows Server 2012 runs on Intel-standard processors, and no longer supports HP's Itanium processors, which are increasingly losing influence in the market./.
